Amazon in Costa Rica

The internet’s pioneer bookstore, www.Amazon.com, has announced that it will open its 9th overseas customer support center in Costa Rica.

Amazon representatives contacted the Costa Rican Coalition for Development Initiative (Cinde) during the beginning of the year in order to evaluate the option of opening a support center in the country.

After learning about the positive results obtained by other international companies which have been operating out of Costa Rica for several years now.  The country’s industrial infrastructure as well as qualified English speaking human resource tipped the scale towards Costa Rica.

Amazon Support Services Costa Rica S.R.L will hire 300 employees within the next two years.  They have also announced that Amazon will be opening 400 temporary positions for the upcoming Christmas season.

Cinde has stated that Amazon’s decision to open a support office in Costa Rica reassures the country’s consolidation as a direct foreign investment destination.  Other companies which have successfully operated from Costa Rica are Sykes and Hewlett Packard.
