The program will begin by instructing teachers from rural areas about issues such as global warming threats and the strategies which can help reverse its effects. The program will teach values such as energy conservancy, recycling, having the public sector go green, reforestation and gas emission reduction.
The program’s mission is to have school teachers include the importance of these values within their day to day school schedules and this way assure that these grade and high school students will be the driving force behind families and communities in the battle against global warming in the near future.
For what is left of 2008, teachers from the regions of Guapiles and Heredia will be the first to receive a course at the National Biodiversity Institute Park (InBio Park). For 2009, the program expects to include teachers from all over the nation.
The “Peace with Nature” program expects to encourage teachers from all regions to include themes such as conservation, protection and environmental recovery as well as respect to diverse life forms and conservancy proposals in the classrooms.
